College Administration

The College of Science is led by a dedicated team of administrators committed to excellence in education, research, and community service.

College Dean

College Dean

The Dean of each academic unit shall be accountable to the offices of Academic Vice President and Research and Community Service. The powers and responsibilities of Deans include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulating the AU's strategic and annual plans and submitting the plan for Academic vice President and Research and Community Service for approval.
  • Communicating and inculcating the AU's strategy, vision, mission and objective to AU members, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Directs teaching-learning, research, community service, technology transfer, quality enhancement, and other issues in the AU.
  • Developing, together with the AU vice Deans/vice Directors and Academic Council, core process performance standards, procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversee the proper functioning of academic unit level administrative bodies (registrar, finance, human resource, general serve, procurement and others).
  • Implementing continuous quality management and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring customer and stakeholder satisfaction on the AU's core processes and programs.
  • Developing better work systems, environment and incentive system so as to improve motivation of staff, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establishing and maintaining bilateral and multilateral partnerships with international and local bodies.
  • Representing and advocating his AU in internal and external affairs, in external intellectual and social affairs and events; attend and speak on behalf of his AU on annual process and University meetings.
  • Ensuring the provision of resources, facilities, training and education needed for the AU's staff.
  • Ensuring that budget for scholarship related costs such as airfare are allocated in their annual plans.
  • Allocating budget for RCS activities and follow up its proper implementation and utilization.
  • Ensuring the delivery of adequate, continuous and relevant staff development, training and education programs in collaboration with international partners, University leadership and others.
  • Authorizing temporary degrees issued by the AU and original degrees together with the President.
  • Creating, improving and maintaining core processes in academic, research, community services and technology transfer.
  • Developing appropriate staff development programs in line with the target performance goals of the AU's core processes.
  • Conducting periodic and continuous impact assessment and evaluation on the performance of the AU's core processes.
  • Benchmarking local and foreign best practices in areas related to the AU's services and deliverables and process.
  • Appoint department heads, course chairs and equivalent.
  • Prepare and communicate different performance reports of the AU.
  • Perform additional tasks given by the Academic Vice President and/or Research and Community Service Vice President.
Academic Vice Dean

Academic Vice Dean

Being accountable to the Dean, the Academic Vice Dean of an academic unit shall have the following powers and responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct the teaching learning activities of the academic units.
  • Follow up and executes the decisions and recommendations of the AC.
  • Seek to provide opportunities for educational and professional development of the staff and students of the academic unit.
  • Follow up and facilitates the processing of developments, promotions, salary increments and benefits due to staff members of the AU.
  • Prepare and causes to be prepared plans, programs and budgets for the activities of the faculty and closely supervises the implementation of approved plans and programs.
  • Supervise the proper use of resources within the AU.
  • Ensure that students' evaluations and colleague reviews of staff members of the AU are properly conducted and the necessary reports are submitted to the Dean as per procedures on these matters.
  • Develop strategies for the expansion of academic programs at all levels.
  • Ensuring timely and effective communication and advertisement of academic programs.
  • Ensure timely and effective orientation of students.
  • Ensure that course instructors, advisors and examiners are timely assigned on merit basis.
  • Follow up the college's customers needs and expectations and works toward meeting those identified needs and expectations.
  • Set target performance levels of the college, and shall communicate the goal and process map for its attainment.
  • Continually collect information on performance of core processes through various mechanisms including customer satisfactions assessments; evaluate the performance achievements, identify gaps, and develop proposals for process improvement and communicate the finding to the college Dean.
  • Develop process flowcharts, and the corresponding manuals, guidelines, etc.
  • Develop procedures and standards for performance and execution.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of appropriate, customer and outcome-focused, efficient and effective, management and measurement system, process design, value and culture in the college.
  • Assess, together with Department Heads, the performance of teaching-learning and organize a report to the Dean.
  • Conduct periodic and continuous program market analysis.
  • Ensure continuous impact assessment, evaluation and graduates' follow up and feedback.
  • Convene periodic program review sessions wherein external and internal stakeholders and partners shall be invited and gather relevant program improvement information.
  • Discuss with department heads and staff on process improvement.
  • Take the Dean's role in the absence of the latter.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks assigned to him by the Dean.
PGRCS Vice Dean

PGRCS Vice Dean

The Postgraduate Research and Community Service (PGRCS) Vice Dean oversees postgraduate programs, research activities, and community engagement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate postgraduate programs and research activities.
  • Manage community service programs and initiatives.
  • Foster partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Oversee research project coordination and implementation.
  • Ensure quality standards in postgraduate education.
Registrar

Registrar

The Registrar manages student records, academic registration, examination processes, and graduation procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate student records and academic transcripts.
  • Coordinate academic registration processes.
  • Oversee examination administration and procedures.
  • Manage graduation procedures and degree certification.
  • Ensure the integrity of academic records.
  • Provide administrative support for students throughout their academic journey.
Laboratory Manager

Laboratory Manager

The Laboratory Manager oversees all laboratory facilities, equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and resource allocation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage laboratory facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Allocate laboratory resources for teaching and research.
  • Train staff and students on laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Academic Council

Academic Council

The Academic Council is the primary academic decision-making body of the College.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and approve curriculum changes and new programs.
  • Establish and maintain academic policies and standards.
  • Evaluate academic program quality and effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic guidance on academic matters.
  • Foster collaboration among faculty and departments.
  • Ensure alignment with institutional mission and goals.
